Baggage Handler/Porter

Overview:

Airport Terminal Management (ATM) provides baggage handling services for travelers and airlines at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). These services assist airlines in getting cargo to baggage claim safely and securely.

Position Objective:

The Baggage Handler/Porter position is responsible for transporting/running bags from the tarmac to baggage claim promptly and safely.

Primary Duties:

  • Safely transport passengers throughout the airport
  • Follow safety precautions at all times
  • Must set up the counter (Extensions, signs, banners, chairs, carpets etc…).
  • If working in front of the counter must assist passengers offloading their luggage’s from the carts into the scale.
  • If working behind the counter must remove the luggages from the scale and placed them onto the belt.
  • Interact with airline, TSA, and airport employees respectfully
  • Be compliant with TSA standards and regulations

Requirements:

  • Must be proficient in English
  • Able to stay overtime to get the work done in timely prompt manner
  • Good customer service skill
  • Good telephone etiquette
  • Must be able to stand 4 to 6 hours daily
  • Ability to push a passenger up/down a 6º slope
  • Ability to lift a 350 lb passenger to and from a seat
  • Knowledge of TSA security screening procedures for persons who are non-ambulatory
  • Knowledge of Immigration and Customs procedures a plus
  • Must pass an extensive background check
  • Must be able to legally work in the U.S.A.
